About

Laura is the founder, curator, organiser and fellow artist of the Illustration NE Projects within Gateshead and Newcastle. The project is involved in a yearly illustration show along with smaller funded and sponsored events throughout the year. Illustration NE Project seeks out the best northeast creative talent in both traditional and digital mediums of illustration. The project along with raising the profiles of northeast based artists also raises much needed funds for local art spaces which don’t receive any government funding. The aim is to make art accessible for all within the Gateshead and Newcastle area, make art profitable and give much needed support to artists and spaces from the region.

INE Project started back in 2009 with the launch of the 1st exhibition, since then the project has grown where it has gained notoriety nationally. The aim of the project is to give the artists a platform to showcase there work as well give the artists the opportunity to earn money from their art. Each year the project puts together one of Gateshead’s largest art exhibitions outside of the Baltic, showcasing a vast range of illustrators from around the region. Coming into it’s 3rd year we are looking to expand the project into doing more exhibitions throughout the year, shows, art markets, take the artists and travel around the UK and giving more artists more opportunities.
